About Doug

Doug Wahl is an award winning broadcast journalist who has spent the last 14 years covering some of biggest events in recent American History. As an anchor and reporter he’s worked in Michigan, Minnesota, Oklahoma and New Mexico.

In 2003 he left the “on camera” work behind and moved to newsroom management. This new portion of his career started at Raycom sister station WAFB in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As the Managing Editor Doug helped oversee the wall-to-wall coverage on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

In March of 2006 Doug moved to Wilmington, North Carolina after accepting the job of Assignment Manager for WECT TV. It is his job to select the day-to-day content of each newscast and manage the staff of reporters and photographers who gather the news.

Doug attends Port City Community Church here in Wilmington and leads a small group for single fathers. In June 2007 he finished his first book called “Gradually to God; a Book for Nonbelievers Who Want to Believe.” Doug and his three year old son Brody can often be found on the playground at Hugh MacRae Parkor running the board walk on Carolina Beach.

  1. This is a great idea Doug! I like your creativity with the name. I will keep up with you this way. FYI…we started production a few weeks ago for a cartoon pilot based on Daddy-Man. I will let you know when we have it completed. We will be sending it out to networks and studios. It was great to hear from you again. Please stay in touch.

  2. This was great to read. Very nicely done.I like the part about Shelby Township because I am one of those people that still lives in the area you left behind. You know, Doug, you have a real gift for writing. It is something about the end that brings you back to the beginning. I love that , I guess that is the journalistic quality that you have aquired in all your training.

  3. Doug, I’ve seen some of your peak oil cartooning. Are you willing to make some of your work available to a Transition Towns group in Tas, Australia, for Peak Oil awareness material?
Thank you for your time. Rachel
